Abstract
Fu Xiaodong presents the figure painter Ma Jun (b. 1975), who teaches at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. In six short sections the essay traces his training in Tang and Song line drawing, his collection of ancient objects, and his simple brushwork, linking recent works to the Han-dynasty image of Mount Bo.
