Abstract
The founding manifesto of Shanshui. It criticises a globalization that flattens other cultures into a Western frame, presents the editors as “Sino-artists” practising Chinese painting in China, rejects the view of Chinese painting as merely “traditional”, and proposes mountain and water painting as a non-anthropocentric resource for rethinking humanity’s relationship with nature.

《山水》杂志的创刊宣言。文章批评将其他文化纳入西方参照框架、造成文化扁平化的全球化，介绍编者作为旅居中国、研习中国画的“Sino-artists”的立场，反对将中国画仅视为“传统”的看法，并提出山水画可作为重新思考人与自然关系的非人类中心主义思想资源。
